“Although growing pains can be difficult, if you navigate this fierce storm wisely, you can come out stronger, braver, and happier than you ever thought possible.” ~from The Skinny on Saturn Returns: What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger

This brilliant song was taught to me at Song Village by Britta Gudmunson of inCourage Choir in Santa Barbara (Britta learned it through Annie Zijlstra at the Ubuntu Choirs Network CCLT training 2017). It is inspired by Saturn Returns – that notoriously tumultuous time in all our lives (if we’re lucky enough to live long enough!) where our worlds as we know them get shaken up beyond recognition, and we come out more ourselves than we’ve ever been. They can be brutal, these Saturn Returns, chaotic and harrowing, but on the other side of it awaits a bigger, brighter, more authentic and powerful version of yourself.

The words come from i thank you God for most this amazing by e.e. cummings:

(now the ears of my ears awake and
now the eyes of my eyes are opened)
