In The Light of Love

Dhanvantari

In the Light of Love

(Om Shree Danvantre Namaha)

A Hindu mantra in Sanskrit and English
By Deva Premal and Miten

I learned this from Ubuntu choir leader Shasta Martinuk. Her husband, Brian Hoover, created this arrangement, inspired by the original from Deva Premal and Miten. Shasta and Brian were kind enough to send me recordings so I could learn all four parts, and also the sheet music, which is now made available to you (below the teaching tracks) through their generosity.

The Dhanvantari mantra (Om Shree/Shri Dhanvantre Namaha; ॐ श्री धन्वन्तरये नम) is a powerful healing tool for good health. Mantra Translation: “Om and salutations to the celestial healer Dhanvantari. May my healing abilities (physical, mental and emotional) be cultivated and strengthened for my own healing and for healing others.”

Dhanvantari is an avatar of Vishnu in Hinduism. He appears in the Vedas and Puranas as the god of Ayurveda. In this mantra we seek his blessings for sound health for ourselves and/or others.
